The story of the Triantos family oil
It was Spring 1959 in a small village of Peloponnesus. Grandfather Konstantinos was planting the first olive trees. Grandmother Angelica was there as well and despite her late-term pregnancy she was helping him. Those difficult times, everyone should help with the agricultural work, supporting the family and survive.
It was the day that Ioannis, my father, was born, next to these olive trees. These trees have a special place to his heart, because he born next to them, played among them and grew up together with them. As a kid, Ioannis liked the sweet kapsala, a grilled fermented sourdough bread, dipped in fresh olive oil with sugar on top, and the greek donuts baked in the old pot with the same delicious oil.
Today the farm has grown. It has become a proper plantation with more than 700 trees, some of them over 60 years old, and many more species, such as pistachios, oranges, lemons, pears, and peaches. My father, a BSc. economist with deep knowledge in agriculture is the proud owner of this plantation, and he always finds time to take care of our trees. During Spring everything blooms, and it smells heavenly. It is a small paradise.
Our olive trees are a mixture of many varieties (Koroneiki, Manaki, Lianolia, Kalamon, and Ladoelia). The Mediterranean climate stimulates the rapid growth of the tree and the early ripening. This mixed variety in combination with our organic fertilization produces an excellent virgin olive oil, of high quality, exceptionally low acidity, rich flavor, and delicious taste.
During difficult times, the olive oil production was financially supporting our family. Nowadays, our olive oil is generously distributed to relatives and friends. Everyone who has tried it, recognizes its bittersweet taste and due to its unique aroma, it has been characterized as nectar. Our wish and mission is that all our friends and acquaintances here in the Netherlands, our second home, can taste and enjoy our wonderful nectar oil.
It is organic, and without additives: a pure and honest family product and is our great pleasure to share it with you!
